I recently splashed out on a new lens to help with getting pictures of wildlife - especially birds - both out and about and at our feeders. It's quite the beast.
However, it's turned quite a few photos that would otherwise have been a help to identify birds into quite satisfying images. Here are some examples:

and this identification that would almost certainly have been inconclusive with the previous equipment - a palm warbler, probably just passing through on its way to breeding areas further north:
