It was 1 °F (-17 °C) when we left home to go to the beach first thing this morning. That isn't unusually cold for this time of year - but we've had a fairly mild winter so far, so it was a shock to the system.
Here are three attempts to show you how cold it was.
First, cold enough for a sun dog (that bright spot to the right of the sun is not lens glare - it's a real phenomenon - also see the close up-below):
