Fortunately, this didn’t interfere with the plans to celebrate Exile #2’s birthday which included watching the football followed by delivered pizza and a birthday cake along with some gifts of course. Happy Birthday Exile #2!

Day 19.178: Birthday surprise
We woke up abruptly a little before 6:30 am to the sound of an electrical fault that caused a power outage for an hour or so - once again a squirrel shorted out a distribution transformer in our neighborhood.

Day 19.161: Birthday!
I had a very busy day today. The most important part was celebrating Exile #3’s birthday which waited until the end of the day. Happy birthday Exile #3!

Day 19.091: Birthday (observed)
After lunch, I collected E5N1 from his college dorm to bring him to the high school for the Saturday matinee of the musical. Exile #2 and Exile #3 met us there. Afterward, we had takeout and birthday cake and did gifts etc.

Day 17.153: Double double digits
There is only one teenager left in the house now that this one has made it to 20:
Happy Birthday Exile #4!
They had a fun day out with friend and neighbor K, and then the seven of us had takeout and birthday cake and some rowdy games.

Day 14.178: Happy Birthday Exile #2
We celebrated Exile #2's birthday today with gifts (this wasn't one of them):
and some take-out. She also gamely celebrated with me as England made it to the Euro 2020 final despite her other national allegiances.

Day 14.161: Exile #2's Sunday Column #350
Exile #2 writes...
Today, while most people were celebrating Fathers’ Day, we were also celebrating Exile #3's 19th birthday. This coincidence has happened before, but somehow it feels like it happens way more often than it should. Amazingly, all three siblings emerged early enough for our Dad’s/birthday brunch to be breakfast. Then, after the busyness of the last couple of days, we stayed home, played some games and ate some good food. We toyed with putting 19 candles on Exile #3’s cake but went for a more modest 10. It seems that even last year we’d abandoned the one candle one year rule. I guess it’s evidence of the entry into adulthood.
Maybe the photo collages will also go by the way but if you need a reminder of how far this young woman has come, here is a link to last years’.

Day 14.088: Fourteen years old (not the blog)
Thanks to the weird numbering system I use here, it's evident that E5N1 is the same age as the blog (all but 88 days anyway). His birthday falls on Day X.088 (or X.089 in leap years) each year.
So here is fourteen - another COVID-affected birthday, but a little more normal than last year.

Day 13.089: The quaranteen
Happy Birthday E5N1 - 13 today!
...and yes I did go back to check that he opened presents in the same pajamas on his 6th birthday as on his 4th birthday!
Opening some gifts today:
And waving the candles out (for some reason we're all a bit germ-conscious this time around!):
