Day 9.179: Happy Birthday Exile #2!
I was back at work today. When I came home from lunch, the kids had shopped for groceries and made a birthday cake for Exile #2.

Day 9.178: Mainely traveling
Our day started early, some 20 hours ago in Cambridge. As we were about an hour away from landing in Boston, we got some clear views of the Maine coastline. I think that this photo might be North Haven and Vinalhaven, but there are plenty of candidates.
It was more than four hours later that we crossed back into Maine at ground level - happy to be nearly home.

We had a last-day trip with my parents to WWT Welney today. We had a great time - here is some of what caught my eye (with apologies to R.E.M.):

Day 9.176: Grilled meets
Today included a ride on a double-decker bus as we used the Park & Ride to visit Cambridge city centre for some shopping.
The day ended with a trip to some more of our longest-term friends (I won't say "oldest"!) for more grilled meat than we could possibly wish for and very wide-ranging conversations. As usual, it was over all too soon.

Day 9.175: Goodbyes, hellos and more goodbyes
After a slow start to the day and some last games and conversations, we said goodbye to my sisters and their families just before lunch. Goodbyes are hard.
After that we headed into Cambridge to meet up with some friends from our time of living here. The gathering was blessed with some nice outdoors-friendly weather and looked something like this:
Of course, these hellos led, in due course, to more goodbyes. Did I mention that goodbyes are hard?

Day 9.174: Cup, Thai
It was our last evening all together - my parents, their three children with our spouses and their six grandchildren all walked to the pub for Thai food. We had a great evening and E5N1 was very pleased with the size of his drink!
