Day 15.263: The fire before the game
Tonight was the traditional pre-homecoming bonfire. Several of us went four years ago. Tonight, I was just called upon to be taxi service for E5N1. He repaid me with some photographic evidence of the fun.

Day 15.262: School Spirit Week
This week is the lead-up to Homecoming at the high school. E5N1 will be playing in the pep band tomorrow at the pep rally and again on Saturday at the Homecoming football game. Each day this week had a dress-up theme and E5N1 has embraced them all:
Monday was pajama day:
Tuesday was anything-but-a-backpack day:
Wednesday was Adam Sandler day:
and today was Soccer Moms (and BBQ Dads) day:
Tomorrow is (just) about wearing the school colors.

Day 15.260: Feeder drama
Exile #2 has watched a lot of bird-drama at the feeder this week. Here are a few of the photos (mostly taken by her, a few by me).

Day 15.259: I have questions...
While we were visiting Exile #4 a week ago and walking in the cemetery, these three stones caught our eye:
Still, it leaves me wondering if this unusual stone was chosen for her before it became clear that he would be buried side-by-side with his second wife. It seems, perhaps, somewhat appropriate then for her back to be turned, but presumably that was not the order that things happened unless the stone was replaced later.
In particular, why - although they seemed to be a group - one was so different and bore just the enigmatic phrase, "THE INN - OF A TRAVELLER - ON HER WAY - TO - JERUSALEM"
I was curious enough to see if the back of the stone had any explanation and found that it was the gravestone of Mr. Green's first wife:

Day 15.258: Exile #2's Sunday Column #409
Exile #2 writes...
Our local supermarket is full of weird and wonderful things. I often find myself grabbing a random packet of British biscuits that they have in that day but then will never ever have again. Sometimes, they don’t quite tempt me to buy but I have to snap a photo. I couldn’t stop myself when packets of “Entertaining Crackers” appeared on the shelves. However, sometimes things are a bit more unsettling, such as when I rounded the corner on Friday to find this waiting for me.

Well, I guess when the Halloween candy has been on the shelves since August, you have to up the ante somehow.

Day 15.256: Gathering on the patio
We hosted a little church gathering this evening. It was a little cold but other than that, it was a great time.

Day 15.255: Rain: no parade
With yesterday's outdoor activities safely behind me, I can't really complain about a rainy day today. It was impressively wet at times.

Day 15.254: Peak celebration
Instead of a day in the office today, we were celebrating an anniversary with a social event - food, drink, live music and lawn games at a beautiful spot on Peaks Island.

Day 15.253: Shore; birds
Shorebird migration is underway - sanderlings, semipalmated plovers and another unidentified sandpiper (and a gull because I happened to catch a nice photo). On the beach on Sunday morning:

Day 15.251: Exile #2's Sunday Column #408

After our jaunt to Worcester yesterday, we opted for a quiet beach walk this morning. There were all sorts of birds hanging out at the shoreline picking over what ever goodies high tide had turned up and an interesting selection of mushrooms in the woods on our way back.

Tonight was the final night of having our guest with us, so we grabbed some tasty local pizza for a treat. We often wonder what pizza shops make of our orders, which usually include a very meaty pizza made with vegan cheese for Exile #1 and E5N1. However, as we discovered tonight - it’s Exile #3's choice of just cheese (no sauce) that causes more confusion. Are you sure they asked? Nothing else? Nothing else at all?

Day 15.250: Didn't get the memo
No-one told me there was a color-scheme for this get-together.
Great to have a little catch-up with Exile #4 and see some of their hangouts. We also took them to the cemetery where E5N1 and I started our graveyard tour while Exile #2 and Exile #4 were touring college campuses a year ago.
