Day 16.026: Exile #2's Sunday Column #427

Exile #2 writes...

While it may be true that there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes, Exile #3 and I began to have our doubts as we stood under a swaying traffic light on Friday, waiting for it to change in temperatures well below freezing.

Still it made us appreciate reaching our destination, the Brick Store Museum in Kennebunk, all the more. Exile #3 missed out on the previous trip but having an interest in illustration, I decided she couldn’t miss out on their special exhibition.

It included pieces in many different media: from pencil sketches to paintings, wood cuts to collage but one thing we particularly enjoyed was getting to see the originals of pieces that can sometimes end up shrunk down, washed out, or flattened by reproduction in books. There were posters, book illustrations, political cartoons, and even beer can designs, all by Maine-based artists. It was great little exhibition at a great little museum, and although Exile #3 suffered for it in the afternoon, it was also great to see her out of the house.
