Day 18.157: Trails and cottontails

Our visit to Wells Reserve at Laudholm on Saturday featured some very verdant trails. The air was heavy with the scent of honeysuckle in places and with sea breeze and roses in others. I can't share the smells, but here are the visuals:







It was also rather buggy, which meant mosquitos to go with the ticks, but also some more appealing insects:

We were surprised to see a couple of rabbits along the trails:



And a little internet sleuthing suggests that these may be native New England cottontails rather than the more common eastern cottontails (although I'd be reluctant to claim any ability to differentiate), as the native species has been reintroduced here after being out-competed in most places as their preferred forest/shrubland habitat has dwindled.
