Our last couple of visits to the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden have been during the winter. The garden is lit up for the holidays and it is a quite lovely, if extremely cold, evening out. This time, however, we were here for the plants and some new inhabitants (I’ll leave Exile #1 to talk about those).
I could happily spend hours going round and round the different areas - the sensory garden is a particular favorite, with plants you are encouraged to touch and smell and a water feature that sounds amazing but as ever, just as we thought we were done and were wandering back to the car, we spotted an area we’d missed - the dahlia garden. They are one of those plants I can’t imagine planting myself but I love it when someone else has done it. They are so spectacular and oddly mathematical. Here is a small selection for your enjoyment.
