An eastern garter snake:
A smooth green snake (both a good description and its name):
Both of the snakes narrowly missed being stepped on by me before leaving their spots on the trail for the relative safety of the leaf litter.
A harbor seal near the lighthouse:
and this spring azure butterfly that had very blue color that showed when it flew but looked quite unassuming with its wings folded. It did, however take a liking to Exile #3's shoe for some reason.
