Day 16.334: Exile #2’s Sunday Column #462

Exile #2 writes...

We woke to a misty morning - not foggy like it can get in and around Portland -but still enough to make things feel close and heavy. It was a forerunner to the rain that has reached us now and the winds that will hit us later.

Maybe that’s why we had such a quiet day at our bird feeders. The weekend is usually when we count what we see in our yard but this weekend, for the first time, we saw absolutely nothing. It’s not that no birds have been around lately, just that none showed up this weekend - or, at least, not when we were looking!

We did manage, however, to find a small window when it was dry enough to put up our outdoor Christmas lights. They are pretty understated in the context of our neighborhood but they are still a welcome bit of light during these darkest days.
