Day 17.184: Hawk vs turtle

Our birding group has (temporarily) moved our morning walks to Fridays. One of the excitements from yesterday was a young red-tailed hawk which we saw preening in the sun for a while then watched as it hopped curiously around a painted turtle before eventually moving on. This is how it looked to me:

I think we’ll chalk this as a win for the turtle.
