We've commented several times in the last decade or so that we've been learning about the US school system year by year as Exile #3 has arrived at each new step. Today was the last major milestone - at least for her grade-school journey as we went for her socially-distanced* high school graduation. It was obviously not quite a standard commencement ceremony - maybe we'll get to experience one of those in a couple of years, but we are very proud of the first member of our immediate family to get a high school diploma!
* their graduation "walks" were filmed in small groups and we will go to the drive-in to see the whole thing in a few weeks.
Well done Exile #3!

Yes, huge congratulations, Exile#3. I'm so glad there was a graduation ceremony to mark your achievement and hope it felt special, despite all the distancing strangeness.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering how (whether?) the cakes were distributed?!
Dx
It was a nice ceremony - short as it was. As each name was called, they walked up, the headmaster said his congratulations to each by name and placed the diploma on the table then retreated as they came and took it and posed for a photo. The whole thing was 15 minutes for eight students and then we all had to get out of the way for the next group.
DeleteExile #2 made the excellent cakes - and we had one each despite appearances :)
