Day 8.309: Exile #2's Sunday Column #81

Exile #2 writes...

This week has been accompanied by the regular barking cough of Exile #3. Having arrived home feeling unwell last Friday, she took to her bed and stayed there through much of the week. On Thursday, I took her to see the doctor, who said her chest sounded clear. She was given cough medicine and an inhaler to manage suspected bronchitis, and was cleared for a return to school.

She didn't sound too bad Friday morning and so, off she went. However, in the afternoon, the dreaded school number came up on the caller ID, and the school nurse informed me that Exile #3 had a fever and please could I come and get her now, thank you. I got a frosty reception (to say the least) in the school office when I went to collect her, and found her coughing relentlessly.

We returned to the doctor Saturday morning. Although her chest still apparently sounds clear, we now have a belt and braces prescription of steroids to assist the inhaler and antibiotics to treat possible walking pneumonia (which I fear she will have spread around the school on Friday). I just hope that she soon gets some relief from the constant coughing, and regains some energy and appetite. E5N1, who is quite concerned about Exile #3 made this rag doll skirt to cheer her up.

  2. It is an enormously cheering skirt. I hope it, assorted medication and rest will help Exile #3 feel much better soon. It's so miserable and exhausting constantly coughing. Dx
