Today was a big day for
E5N1. He turned 11, and was baptized into the bargain. Unlike the girls, who were babies and small enough to be lifted over the font,
E5N1 knelt down for the water to be scooped over him. He was surrounded by a curious audience of youngsters, and went home with a candle, a certificate, a shell that was in the baptism water, and an envelope full of slips of paper with words and prayers from his church family. A lovely and thoughtful gift.
I’m sure he will be writing soon, but to all who sent birthday gifts, thank you very much! His birthday treat this afternoon was a trip to the movies to see Ready Player One. After all, what could be more
E5N1 than a movie about living inside a virtual reality world full of pop culture and video games. 3 of us had read the book, 2 had not, 2 of us remembered the 80's, 3 did not, but we all enjoyed it a great deal.
