Day 14.357: Exile #2's Sunday Column #377

Exile #2 writes...

One of my Christmas gifts from Exile #1 came at a huge personal cost. I don’t mean financial cost necessarily, but more that of bringing something into the house that will drive him totally nuts. It isn’t a kitten or a puppy, it isn’t something noisy or messy. No, it is a blanket.

You see, it gets pretty chilly of an evening in Maine, and those of us that run a little colder like to curl up under a blanket if we sit down to watch TV. This tends to result in, to Exile #1’s eyes, blankets in the way, everywhere.

Well, in an act of supreme sacrifice, he bought me a blanket for Christmas, and not just any old blanket but a Big Blanket. That’s the brand name, and they’re not joking. It is (in their words) 100 square feet of blanket. We discovered that we could, should we wish to, all snuggle under this blanket, even whilst sitting on two separate sofas and an armchair. It is, quite frankly, magnificent, but… do spare a thought for Exile #1.

...not even close to fully spread-out
