Our church relocated to the Gilsland Farm Audubon Center this morning for some outdoor adventuring. It was cold. We needed our thermals, big coats and insulated boots. I was even a little envious of Exile #1’s face fur when the wind blew, but the frost and ice made everything very pretty. I love the colors of Maine at this time of year. The reeds and grasses bleach to a light golden color, the paper birch trunks become visible again and the water is steely grey. It makes the few red berries stand out vividly. We saw a few birds along the way but perhaps the most attention grabbing ones were these guys hanging out by the nature center.
