In other tree-observations there, in addition to the downed-tree evidence of beaver activity, we also saw this work-in-progress - somehow more impressive to see it at this stage.

Day 17.305: Invasive; beaver
At Pickering Ponds last weekend we noticed that many of the trees were weighed-down with impressive amounts of vines which, thanks to some late flowers, we were able to identify as oriental bittersweet. As its name suggests it’s not a native plant and is rather invasive. In closer inspection we saw that many of the vines had been cut a few feet from the ground - so there is obviously an effort to fight back.
