Day 7.239: Brick Store Museum

We visited the Brick Store Museum in Kennebunk this morning. On Saturday they are open from 10-1 and a whole family can visit for $10, so with storms threatening, a fairly tired family of Exiles decided that it was a good option. We were right.

It's one of those eclectic little local museums - with a variety of exhibits linked mainly by geographical area but otherwise diverse. In general this is a good thing for us and we spent an enjoyable hour or so there.

We particularly enjoyed the "Vitamin-V" exhibit - about home life during the Second World War. It's always a surprise to us to know how affected ordinary Americans were by the war that was mostly waged so far from these shores.

Here are a few pictures - Exile #4 looking at a wartime kitchen scene (with creepy mannequins), E5N1 showing off his attempt at creating a food-based propaganda poster and another poster - as misread by Exile #3.

All around, it's safe to say that Doctor Who has both educated our children about history and contaminated their views of it in fairly equal measure.
