Day 12.240: Ogunquit and Camp Ellis

The secret I've been keeping for the second half of this week as we've caught up on Anniversary day-out news, is that Exile #2's mum is here. We had expected this first weekend day of her visit to be rainy thanks to the passing of Hurricane Dorian out to sea, but in the end the rain was minor and over early so we had a very nice afternoon out.

We went to walk the Marginal Way in Ogunquit just a little way down the coast. It's a coastal path we like a lot but does tend to get a lot of tourist visitors, so we tend to avoid it in high-season. Even on a shoulder-season day like today, it was quite busy.

Dorian was making its presence felt, whipping up an impressive surf. Here are some pictures from the walk including a plover (presumably piping) and a gull (probably Bonaparte's):

Afterwards, we returned to Camp Ellis where we had dinner at Huot's in its penultimate weekend for the season. While we waited for a table, we watched the waves crashing down the breakwater:

and for reasons that will be fairly obvious from this that should start at 4:15 just before the first lyrics, this has been my ear-worm all afternoon:
