Day 15.203: Osprey

Our most exciting sighting yesterday was an osprey hunting in the mouth of the Saco River at Camp Ellis. It first caught Exile #2's eye because it was apparently hovering, but clearly was much bigger than most of the birds that we see hunting that way:

Eventually we saw it dive:

and then...

...not this time.

Later I got some nice photos as it flew overhead looking for more opportunities:

The terns were rather unhappy about its presence, mobbing it (at least until it managed to get the height advantage on them) and even apparently following it in a dive:
