Day 17.142: The second time of asking

Before we knew about E5N1’s awards night on Thursday, we had half-planned to be in Portland to see a tribute band of the Cure - A Strange Day who were playing all of the album Seventeen Seconds along with some other songs. Later, we found out that the music wasn’t starting until 9 and toyed with the idea of rushing off after the school event, but in the end the timing didn’t quite work. 

The next day, however, I discovered that the same gig was occurring in Portsmouth NH this evening - and at a more civilized hour - so Exile #2 and I made the trip. 

It was very good. Homage rather than pastiche and elevated by some great horn playing. Well worth a late night or a short trip.
