Day 18.090: Thursday birding

We were back to our regular time for our birding outing. It was a beautiful sunny morning - albeit quite cold again: well below freezing at 7am. 

This hermit thrush was unusually showy - perching way up high in full sun after some more characteristic skulking 

We saw several yellow-bellied sapsuckers and our regular pileated woodpecker near his hole-home

This downy woodpecker had found a nice resonant branch to play, golden-crowned kinglet (we saw several), cardinal singing, burning bush with white-throated and song sparrows

We watched this swamp sparrow hunting in and around a fallen tree:



On the river, tiny green-winged teal (and an American black duck for scale):
