Day 8.234: Fuller Farm

It already seems like a long time ago, but on Saturday we had a lovely walk at Fuller Farm in Scarborough.

Here are some moments (including the one when E5N1 asked if he could crawl through the pipe left across a muddy puddle):

There were lots of birds around, but they were not being photogenic, so I took photographs of insects, fungi and plants instead. Here are some of them:

Clockwise from top left (I think): American lady, viceroy, clouded suphur, great spangled fritillary.

The viceroy was funny because we said it looked like a monarch but was too small, "So unless there's a butterfly that looks exactly like a monarch, but a bit smaller, it must be a monarch!" I said. I was right. And also wrong.

Some other insects:

The dragonfly is a female brown hawker I think and the large green leaf-like insect is a fork-tailed bush katydid.

Some fungi:

As a bonus, here are two family portraits (one has all five of us, the other only four):

There are more trails for us to investigate and it would clearly be very different at different times of year, although the meadows are probably at their best right now.
