Exile #2 writes...
After the last few days of energetic fun, everyone was glad of a small lie-in this morning, although we managed to pull ourselves together in time to make it to church. I couldn't help noticing that we were looking a little geeky, with Exile #1 in his new Firefly t-shirt and Exile #4 wearing a Doctor Who shirt that I had managed to find at Goodwill. Whether it was this or the general lack of rest, Exile #1 and I found ourselves grinning like school kids during the first hymn, which will surely be referred to as the Jean-Luc Picard hymn from now on. The chorus enthused "Make it so!" so often that we had to avoid eye contact at all costs, in case our grinning turned into helpless giggling. Oh dear.
The kids spent the afternoon catching up on homework. E5N1 had to decorate and fill a small paper bag with things that reflect his interests. Amongst other things, there was a map of the world to show his love of geography, a picture of a yeti crab to show his interest in nature, a picture of They Might Be Giants to show his appreciation of music and a picture of some cakes to show (in his words) his love of making - and eating - bakery items. It seemed a fair summary.
