It is pretty shocking that it was more than five years ago that we last visited Cascade Falls. Exile #2 and I made it back there yesterday and explored a bit more fully than last time - finding some different views of the brook and the falls and we found the shockingly small cage where apparently a bear was kept in the 1950 as a tourist attraction.
We also saw some impressive plants and caught some glimpses of a couple of furtive animals (clockwise from top left: some very tall and apparently dead trees, a old gnarly tree that looked a bit like some sort of sea monster, some pretty bark, an impressively large tree seemingly entirely anchored in solid rock, a pileated woodpecker and a red squirrel):
Our walk took us a little outside the park too, but I'll save those adventures for another day.
