Exile #1 found the bird feeder on its side this morning - a surprise, as our new feeder has a hefty cross piece that embeds into the ground to keep the pole steady. By the time Exile #1 found it, the seeds had been emptied out and the suet block had been removed from its holder.
We have spent the day wondering what could have done such a thing. Obviously the most “exciting” option is that we had a visit from a bear but various scenarios have been considered, including some kind of team effort between the various mammals of the neighborhood. Exile #1 was thinking along the lines of Fantastic Mr Fox, although when he suggested it, I just pictured Chicken Run.
The presence of a police car on our street on a couple of occasions has added to the mystery, but for good or for ill we have put the feeder back together again.
