Having gone through a lot of confused thoughts, I wondered if it was a phishing email, but the links - although strange - were actual amazon.com links. We contacted them in any case and they said it definitely was not from them and we should send it to their spoofing department. We later discovered that - as I had suspected - it was not a phishing email, just a glitch.
