Day 14.204: Saturn

Exile #2 has been keeping an eye on the star charts since Exile #4's birthday telescope arrived on the scene. Yesterday, she mentioned that Saturn should be visible for the next two nights, but that tonight looked like the only one that would be clear.

Exile #4 and I took some time yesterday afternoon to realign the mirrors and tonight we went out to see if we could make out Saturn's rings and indeed we could.

With a bit of team work, we even took a half decent picture with my cell phone through the viewfinder:

A closer look:

Not as good as it looked through the telescope by eye, but unmistakably Saturn. Apparently it's currently 1.3 billion kilometers away.
