Day 18.111: Back to warblers

I missed last week’s Thursday morning nature walk and with it, the first widespread sightings of spring warblers. Today I was back and there were plenty to hear, to occasionally see and - rarely - to get a decent photo of. Here they are along with some of the other birds we saw:

Yellow-rumpled warbler

Ruby-crowned kinglet

Wood ducks

Wood ducks on the rocks

Black-and-white warbler

Black-throated green warbler

Gray catbird (first sighting of the year)

He also spotted us!

White-throated sparrow

Yellow-rumped warbler

Black-and-white warbler

Northern parula

Ruby-crowned kinglet gave us a flash of crown

Common yellowthroat

Common yellowthroat

Yellow-rumpled warbler

…feeding at, through probably not on, the buds and flowers

We watched this red-tailed hawk circle and come into land in a pine tree - then realized it was seemingly pulling some prey apart at its nest - presumably to feed some hatchlings
