Day 18.117: Backyard surprises (part 2)

After the visit of the black-and-white warbler and ruby-throated hummingbird on Sunday, on Monday we had:

Scarlet tanager (new life bird first time able to photograph)

Indigo bunting (never seen near home before) [Exile #2 took this photo]

We joked that we would be seeing new birds every day - and indeed, this was Tuesday:

Black-throated blue warbler (new life bird). It first caught my eye flying to the feeder and hovering. I suspect the feeder was incidental - hovering to catch insects is apparently a documented behavior.

Indigo bunting came back (and again today)

First backyard sighting of a red-bellied woodpecker for several weeks

Hard to photograph northern parula - rather mercurial and very close to the ground

And then today a female black-throated blue warbler visited (neither blue, nor black-throated, but I did see it do a similar hovering maneuver while hunting in the low tree branches):

What will we see tomorrow?
