It was week two of the spring bird walks but first we had to get
E5N1 to school at 6:15 am which was as much fun as it sounds.
It did mean that I was in the cemetery about 30 mins before the scheduled meeting time and I have that to thank for one not-great photo of an eastern wood peewee.
Here is some of what we saw after we gathered.
| Baltimore oriole with some nesting material |
| Northern flicker. Just after this, it disappeared into a hole so is likely also nesting here |
| Another oriole posed very nicely for us |
| As did this gray catbird |
| We also may have seen the site of this eagle’s nest just before we watched it trying to find a meal |
| We were talking about the rufous undertail surprise on these gray birds - here’s a glimpse |
| Eastern phoebe |
| A surprisingly orange scarlet tanager |
| Baltimore oriole busy abound the flowers of an oak tree |
