Election day occurs every year on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November, however not all election days are the same. Every 4th year, there is a presidential election. Two years after that is what is called an “mid term” election when the House of Representatives gets re-elected and a 3rd of the U.S. Senate. However, in the odd years, we have off-year elections where none of those positions are normally up for grabs but various local races and referendum questions come up, state-by-state or for more local jurisdictions.
In our case, we had a mayoral election and some state-wide ballot questions to decide upon. Unlike in more high-profile elections we were not bombarded with expensive advertising to sway us but had to go in search of information to make up our minds.
In the end the three eligible and present voters did our civic duty:
