Day 8.175: Fore River Sanctuary

Yesterday morning we went for a short walk at Fore River Sanctuary in Portland. I'd been there before - for a run in the dark in winter (not my finest hour). This time, we planned to find Jewell Falls (apparently Portland's only natural waterfall).

The waterfall is nice and we saw some interesting insect activity and enjoyed the cool shade:



But the real star was the stretch of trail along the railroad line which had the most amazing range of wildflowers:
