We'd had the idea to walk on the beach yesterday, but by the time we were ready it was nearly high tide, so we decided to postpone until this morning. We had a great walk.
Here are some of the things we saw (including the large shell that turned out to be occupied by a sizeable hermit crab and a live sand dollar:

When we neared the Old Orchard Beach pier, we reached the location of the Lobster Dip (a charity plunge into the New Year's ocean water. I took a couple of pictures and then
went it to put my name down turned around to walk back. We were a way down the beach before the "dip" took place, but I managed to get a long-distance shot of some hardy souls raising some money for charity:
