We spent the last day of 2016 stomping about in the snow, which fell in surprisingly large amounts on Thursday night. Although we probably could have got by without them, we decided to make our lives a bit easier, and broke out the snowshoes. E5N1 made it half-way then decided to carry his, but he does have much shorter legs and, in general, minds less about being knee-deep or face first in snow.
Editors note: More photos to follow in a later post
The woods were magical, with slender trees bent double by the weight of the snow, and silence, apart from the running of the stream, where it managed to break through the ice.
We met a dog the size of a bear, and an 8 week old puppy, with a fascination for snowshoes and Bambi-like skills on the ice. We left feeling quite invigorated, and with healthy looking pink cheeks.
I hope your 2017 is filled with good things.
