Day 18.192: Mount Agamenticus

As Exile #2 alluded to, Exile #4 joined the two of us for a hike at Mount Agamenticus on Sunday morning. It was rather hot and sticky as we headed there ahead of the storm fronts expected later in the day.

Eastern towhee, we thought it was more than likely we would see one, and we didn't have long to wait once we reached the summit

Chipping sparrow

Prairie warbler

Red-eyed vireo

Eastern phoebe

Purple finch

American goldfinch

Red-eyed vireo

Indigo bunting - another one we would have been disappointed not to see

A surprising set of mammal sightings. The white-tailed deer was at the summit munching on the vegetation. The red squirrel was by the trail on the way up, and the porcupine was very high in a tree but at eye-level as we looked out from the summit

Barn swallow

The gang
This bird caught my eye soaring very high in the sky. I was surprised to discover when I looked at the photos that it appears to be a crow. What was it doing up there?

Young chipping sparrow

American robin (with berries)

Gray catbird

Black-capped chickadee

American lady (TL and BR), carrot seed moth (TR) and black swallowtail (BL)

Summer azure
