Anyway, I was able to get quite close and take some photos. I guessed his identity by size, and sure enough he appears to be a spring peeper - usually heard but not seen, so this is a treat!

Day 9.159: Spring peeper
This little chap would have been almost completely invisible if he hadn't jumped to escape the lawnmower - he looked like a dry leaf among the low-green plants that pass for a lawn in places around our house (we are improving matters gradually).
Anyway, I was able to get quite close and take some photos. I guessed his identity by size, and sure enough he appears to be a spring peeper - usually heard but not seen, so this is a treat!
