Our New Year's Day walk was at Mousam River Wildlife Sanctuary. We also had a quick turn around the nearby Rogers Pond (we parked there having driven by the trailhead parking for the other sanctuary twice). The trail is three quarters of a mile each way and is in woodland with some nice views of the river once you clear the sights and smells of the sewage processing plant.
We didn't see any wildlife, but we did see the effects of freezing temperatures on a tidal river estuary and on wet ground covered in leaves:
