Exile #1 has just reminded me that today is the first day of the new year for the Exiles in the U.S., so Happy New Year! It is now 8 years since Exiles #1, #3 and #4 stepped off the plane in Albany. I would have stepped, but could only waddle, thanks to E5N1 who was preparing to make an appearance.
The Exiles during the first few weeks of 2007.
This week has felt a little like it did when we first arrived, with polar temperatures and biting winds. My definition of cold has definitely been stretched by living here yet I always manage to forget just what it feels like until it comes around again. The sidewalks have become tricky to negotiate and at times you find yourself having to vault a snowbank to cross the road or to make it from your car to the mailbox.
Still, keeping us warm this week was that other important annual event, Exile #1's birthday. We marked it as best we could on the day between karate and dance lessons but saved up the main celebration for Saturday. Not a big one this year but just some fun time spent with friends. Now we can really start 2015!
