Day 7.175: Don't parade in our (gap in the) rain!

It turns out that we arrived in Maine for our first visit exactly two years ago. We were with my parents then as well.

Today we decided to drive around Biddeford Pool to visit the East Point Sanctuary. As we were promised a short but spectacular trail. Short was a desirable feature due to the very unsettled weather - it looked like we could get there and walk before the next band or rain arrived. We just needed a smooth journey.

What actually happened was that, nearly there, we were swallowed up by the local Fourth of July parade. First we found ourselves passing expectant onlookers then came nose-to-nose with the police car leading the parade towards us. After a hasty three-point turn we fled and tried to loop around, only to find ourselves once again driving backwards along the parade route. All we could of was to pull over and watch it go by.

When we did arrive, we had a very nice walk in the moody atmospheric conditions,

and I practised my nature photography.

Then it started to rain and chased us back to the car and off on search of some lunch - slightly abruptly.
