Happy Birthday to Exile #2!
To celebrate, this evening we left the kids with my parents and went to Portland for dinner.
We ate at Vinland - a restaurant serving 100% local organic food. Everything on the menu (all small plates) was gluten-free and all six dishes we tried were amazing.
I resisted the temptation to photograph everything but here are the first and last plates (beet chips with chevre and pork belly):
We also ate parsnip, raw beef, slow-cooked beef and chicken all combined with amazing flavors of local fruit, herbs, vegetables and even flowers.
As you can see in the bottom right, after a short walk around downtown Portland, we found ourselves at Gelato Fiasco where we had some wonderful sorbetto - also produced locally. I had pear and chocolate and Exile #2 had blood orange and chocolate. Yum!
